Humanity has made some great strides in technology; it appears that creating robots in their image is inevitable. Exact transcript: Greetings! This is the first video to utilize the original purpose behind the creation of this channel, which is to inform you on the world of technological and scientific advancements. For the first few videos these reports will be concentrated on the category of “robotics”, and if sufficient interest arises among the viewers the concept may result in a long term series. So, let’s begin with reviewing some “humanoid” type of robots since many of you will probably consider it as the most fascinating and intriguing. Perhaps the most common known robot of such parameters is Honda’s ASIMO. The name is an acronym for “Advanced Step in Innovative MObility”. ASIMO can be operated from a workstation and by a remote controller. Honda has also created a 3D CPU to power ASIMO consisting of three stacked dice: a processor, a signal converter and some memory. ASIMO runs the VxWorks operating system. As of February 2009, there are over 100 ASIMO units in existence. The robot is capable of various environment interaction, postures, gestures, distinguishing sounds, and facial recognition. Each unit costs under 1 million USD to manufacture. Moving on to CHARLI-L, which stands for “Cognitive Humanoid Autonomous Robot with Learning Intelligence” in a “Lightweight” form.
